Washington-based Global South African Soula Proxenos is helping fund the construction of ten of thousands of affordable homes in South Africa as founder and managing partner of International Housing Solutions, a private equity firm specialising in the development of residential housing in the region. Eskom has just announced an investment of R100 million in IHS's second fund whose investors already include the International Finance Corporation and South Africa's National Housing Finance Corporation. IHS' first fund, launched in 2007, saw construction of 27 000 housing units across South Africa. More details from Engineering News here.
