A South African government delegation will accompany the Minister of Sport and Recreation, Fikile Mbalula to the United Kingdom for the lodging of the bid for Durban to host the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Invited guests will include members of the business community, the diplomatic corps and members of the media.
This is an historic and special moment for the Commonwealth sporting movement as Durban formally bids to bring the 2022 Commonwealth Games to South Africa, creating with it the exciting prospect of Africa’s first Commonwealth Games.
This event takes place on Monday, March 2, 2015 at Mansion House, the official residence of the Rt. Hon. The Lord Mayor of London. To mark the occasion, Durban will outline and showcase its ambitions in front of a select audience of senior sporting, civic and Commonwealth representatives and international media.
The Commonwealth Games is one of the world’s great sporting stages, bringing the nations, territories and citizens of the Commonwealth together in sport and friendship.
