South Africans in China started filming in December of 2014. Over the past few months, the video team of Crienglish.com has filmed 12 South African guests living and working in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Huizhou and Yangshuo.
The series was produced to celebrate the 2015 ‘Year of China’ in South Africa and to enhance the friendship and understanding between the two peoples.
In this episode, Mark O'Connell, who came to China from the one of the most famous golf course in South Africa, Fancourt. The late former President Nelson Mandela, Tiger Woods and Gary Player were all frequent customers of his. Five years ago, he flew to Shenzhen equipped with his management and golfing experience, as well as his maintenance team, to inject new life into Xili Golf and Country Club. He's always believed that the further development of golf courses in China will attract more Chinese players to enjoy and appreciate the game.

South African Ambassador to China Ms Dolana Msimang said that the initiative by China Radio International in producing this documentary is important in that it takes the experience of South Africans living in China to a broader audience in China and also back to South Africa, thereby stimulating more interests in our two peoples to learn about our respective countries and their cultures.
