Argon Asset Management secured a double victory for South Africa with two awards for Best Asset Management Company in Africa 2015 and Best Asset Management Industry CEO in Africa 2015 awarded to Argon CEO and co-founder Mothobi Seseli at the 16th annual IAIR Awards ceremony, held in Milan, Italy on Friday, 9 October 2015.
IAIR noted Seseli’s ability in “founding and leading a player that has become in a decade the point of reference and preferred partner for African and international clients and institutions.” The independent owner-managed investment management organisation with R30 billion in client assets was recognised by IAIR for its global standards, diversified and responsible approach to doing business and consistent top quartile investment performance profile.
The multi-product house provides investment management services and investment products to both retail and institutional investors. In South Africa, Argon manages an equity fund, bond fund, absolute return fund, flexible income fund and a money market fund. Their offshore product set consists of a range of global equities, global fixed income and global balanced/multi asset class funds. Seseli attributes their consistent top quartile position, ahead of respective benchmarks to their fundamental research-driven investment process and a coherent risk management programme.
“We are so proud and humbled by the continuing global recognition. It is significant for a South African firm that is relatively young, to have won these international awards which link with our vision to be an African investment firm with global standards,” said Seseli.
Before the glittering awards ceremony, held at the headquarters of Borsa Italiana (London Stock Exchange Group) international business leaders gathered for a CEO Summit where Seseli participated in a panel discussion with chief executives from around the world to discuss leadership, skills and visions for growth.
