George Airport, which serves over 600,000 passengers every year, is celebrating the completion of the first phase of its
solar power plant which can already generate over 40% of its own electricity needs.
Once completed, the airport will be able to run totally independent of the national grid.
The airport harnesses energy from sun tapped through 3000 photo-voltaic panels.
ACSA hopes to convert all of its regional airports to solar renewable energy in the future.
