Innovation Without Borders: Kimeshan Naidoo’s Journey From Education to Climate Tech.

From the coastal town of Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, to the global tech stages of London, Kimeshan Naidoo is proving that South African ingenuity can drive global change—one bold idea at a time. 📚 Building Pathways to Higher Education Naidoo’s academic journey began at the University of Cape Town, where he earned a BSc in Electrical Engineering. Fueled by curiosity and a passion for solving real-world problems, he continued his studies at University College London (UCL), completing a Master’s in Computer Science. It was at UCL where Kimeshan met Diego Fanara, and in 2015, they co-founded Unibuddy, a peer-topeer platform designed to connect prospective students with current university students. The goal was simple but powerful: help students make better decisions about their futures by hearing directly from those who’ve lived the experience. 🧠 “Choosing a university is a life-altering decision. We wanted to bring honesty, connection, and transparency to that process,” Naidoo says. Under Naidoo’s technical leadership as CTO, Unibuddy scaled rapidly, partnering with over 500 global institutions, including the University of Cambridge and New York University. The platform raised $32 million in funding and gained recognition from Forbes’ 30 Under 30 Europe list in 2020 —a milestone that celebrated the team’s bold vision and execution. 🌱 Tech for the Planet: Leading BX Technologies In 2023, Naidoo made a pivot—one that was deeply aligned with his values. He joined BX Technologies, a London-based climate tech company focused on sustainable agriculture, as Chief Technology Officer. BX Technologies recognises that agriculture is both a major contributor to carbon emissions and a key player in solving the climate crisis. As CTO, Naidoo leads the development of BX’s core API architecture, AI systems, and digital infrastructure, helping farmers adopt sustainable practices backed by data. 🌿 “We’re not just building software—we’re building tools that enable a more sustainable, equitable future for food production,” Naidoo explains. BX’s mission echoes the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in food security, climate action, and sustainable innovation. By reducing carbon footprints across agricultural supply chains, Naidoo and his team are creating real-world impact at scale. 🌐 A Borderless Vision Across industries and continents, one theme defines Naidoo’s career: purpose-led innovation. Whether it’s leveling the playing field in higher education or fighting climate change through intelligent tech, his work is a reminder of the power South African minds have to reshape the world. 💬 “Innovation knows no borders; it’s about making a global impact,” says Naidoo. 📌 Want to learn more?
