Promoting Regional and Continental Trade Through the AfCFTA
and BRICS in Africa”

The South African Consul-General, Professor J Moroe, Brand South Africa and the South African BRICS Business Council would like to invite you to a business roundtable and dialogue session focusing on trade between South Africa and Nigeria, including the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) which came into effect on 30 May 2019 for the 24 countries that had deposited their instruments of ratification.

Nigeria is not only a strategic partner on the continent for South Africa, but Nigeria has also emerged as a priority country for South Africa as it represents over two thirds market share for South African exports and investments in West –Africa sub-region. Since 1994 Nigeria’s trade with South Africa has grown healthy, to the extent that Nigeria is South Africa’s 7th largest African export market and Nigeria is one of South Africa’s primary crude oil suppliers.

As part of the discussion, we will zoom into the importance of African countries participation at the upcoming BRICS Business Forum and Summit, what the BRICS formation means for the continent through a dialogue session themed “Rise Together – Forging Collaborations, Transforming Nations through the AfCFTA & BRICS”.
