Ladysmith Black Mambazo is currently touring across 6 countries and has 17 upcoming concerts. With their upbeat vocal harmonies, trademark dancing steps, and endearing onstage banter, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the five-time Grammy Award winners from South Africa, have warmed the hearts of audiences all around the world for 60 years. The 1987 Graceland CD by Paul Simon served as the world’s introduction to Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The group was named “South Africa’s cultural ambassadors to the world” by the late former president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela, a position that the members take with the utmost respect. For two different albums, the ensemble was nominated for two Grammy Awards in 2018, a first for World Music. Their career total of 19 Grammy Award nominations was increased by these two nominations. Shaka Zulu Revisited, one of these albums, took home the Best World Music Album award.
The group won the most Grammy Awards of any World Music group with this, their fifth overall. In 2019, Ladysmith Black Mambazo worked with the renowned Steppenwolf Theatre Company on a performance titled Lindiwe for the third time, and they also published an album with songs from the show.
