Brand South Africa collaborated with world renown Chef Lorna Maseko on 25 June 2023 to promote the Nation brand through South African cuisine by bringing South African flavours to cultural centres in the United States. International stakeholders in particular those with an interest in our country have heard about the wonderful and diverse South Africa and may even reminisced about seeing the Big 5 or going on a safari, but somehow when they leave, there is nothing on offer to remind them of sunny South Africa and the culinary gems they might have experienced.
The event took place on 23 June 2023 in the US (California, Los Angeles Cooking School) in form a bespoke event targeted at Influencers and Media Personalities with interest in South Africa. Chef Lorna was the host and executive producer of The Hostess with Lorna Maseko, a lifestyle reality series for food and entertainment connoisseurs. 2018 saw Chef Lorna’s first cookbook, Celebrate with Lorna Maseko. The cookbook won two Gourmand World cookbook awards in 2019. In 2021 she won a Taste Award for Lorna with a Pinch of Salt and The Hostess with Lorna Maseko.
Lorna currently has a show on BBC Lifestyle called Homegrown SA and Celebrating with Lorna Maseko on Recipe.TV in the USA. She has a cookware line with HSN and is a guest judge on Season 20 of Top Chef World All Stars. Lorna has always been inspired by food that is rooted in her Proudly South African heritage. Nothing brings South Africans together like traditional cuisine and flavours and Lorna would like to showcase that through a uniquely curated 8-course menu which will consist of South African dishes that sculpted and formed her into the formidable chef she is today!
